Growers have new representative on ACOS

Defra has appointed seven new members to the Advisory Committee on Organic Standards (ACOS) including the Director of Research and Development at HDRA, Dr Margi Lennartsson. ACOS is a non-executive, non departmental public body which provides advice to Ministers on organic standards, research and development and monitors the work of the nine organic certification bodies which operate in the UK.

The other new members are: Dr Andrew Butterworth (University of Bristol Veterinary School), Mr Ronald Eunson (organic farmer, Shetland), Mr Richard Jacobs (Organic Farmers & Growers Ltd), Mrs Marilyn James (Quality Welsh Food Certification Ltd), Dr Susanne Padel (University of Wales) and Mr George Starrett (feed compounder). Margi joins Roger Hitchings, Head of Advisory Services at OAS and OGA committee member, on ACOS as representatives for organic horticulture.
