Charles Dowding - Salad Leaves for All Seasons'Organic Gardening - The Natural No-Dig Way' has hit a sweet spot in the market and sold over 12,000 copies, reflecting the growing interest in producing tasty, nutritious food at home. It is based on my long experience of growing vegetables and helps the reader to avoid all the mistakes I made in a quest to find better, simpler, more natural ways of working with the soil and plants.
In March 2008, my second book, 'Salad Leaves for All Seasons', appeared which reflects a passion for year-round salad leaves of all colours and flavours, which have been so popular in my salad bags sold in local shops and restaurants. It emphasises the quality which can be achieved when plants are grown in well managed soil with good compost, resulting in salads of superb flavour and keeping ability. In mild winters it is possible to keep producing and there is special emphasis in the book on seasonal sowings to best achieve this, also to reduce pest damage on leaves.
Best wishes
Charles
